I Wonder How Many of These Gobby Politicos Have Pretended To Support Ordinary Folk During The Energy Crisis?

Now, though, Whitehaven is about to start digging coal again. And the local reaction? Euphoria.

'I can't begin to describe what a difference this is going to make to the whole area,' says Mike Starkie, the Conservative Mayor of Copeland (which includes Whitehaven).

'More than 90 per cent of the residents are fully supportive and we are looking at 500 direct jobs, not to mention another 1,500 in the supply chain.'

The news has been greeted with cross-party fury from Labour, the Lib Dems, the Greens and a considerable number of Tories too. Environmentalists are appalled. Their objections are met with a shrug on the streets of a town desperate for inward investment and regeneration. Mail.

Blogger: time to start deep fracking. (It is, however, completely justifiable to ban all shallow fracking.)

Time to open all the N. Sea oil platforms and jail every Stop Oil protester who breaks the law.

Time to plan eight new nuclear plants.

Time to access the coal seam between Wentworth and Wakefield. It is only several feet below the surface. Open cast.

Time to become self-sufficient in energy again.

Let those who want to develop 'renewables' do so but don't throw taxpayers' hard-earned cash at them!

Stop pretending that our current climate change is anthropomorphic - it isn't!

Stop pretending that 'renewables' will 'save the planet' at the same time as giving us all the energy we'll need! They can't! Only nuclear fusion can achieve this and nobody knows how to make it work.

Stop pretending that we are all benefitting from Net Zero - only India and especially China are doing so as they are not playing silly games.                                                        But they are being irresponsible in a way never seen in the West in the last 80 years!

I've been to China and also India in the last decade and I've been living in England. They are riddled with pollution and we ain't!

I'm old enough to remember the smogs and fogs of the early fifties. The Clean Air Act of 1956 was the start of us getting rid of the bulk of our pollution.

Here's a tip. Read weather forecasts in the UK and check how often pollution levels are ever more than minimal - and that's with 20 times more vehicles on the road than when I was five.                                                                        At that age, my breathing was so bad that my doctor advised my parents to take me to the coast if I were to be able to survive.

In my 70s - I would now happily live in that same house we left back in 1956 to move to the Lincs Coast. The air there is now almost pure.

Remember too - WEATHER IS NOT CLIMATE and vice verca.

Congratulations, Whitehaven!

Incidentally, I've just checked the pollution in the atmosphere in Sheffield. Whaddya know? - LOW - as it is almost all of the time.

They can't keep telling us the truth like this - can they? Shall have to adjust the figures like the large bodies with climate-change self-interest in their hearts have already been doing!
