During October, members of religious groups from across Cuba came together in Havana, for a roundtable to discuss the right to freedom of religion or belief. Protestant, Roman Catholic and Orthodox Christian denominations attended the event, as well as Afro-Cuban, Jewish and Muslim groups, reflecting a real diversity of faith. The Cuban Communist Party responded by using their internal intelligence to harass and detain religious leaders from participating – against a backdrop of violations of religious freedom only ever increasing across the island. 📸: Pastor Alejandro Hernandez Cepero, arbitrarily detained by the Department of State Security, and therefore unable to attend the roundtable.
