Hi, Last week I wrote to you about Pastor Wang Yi – the pastor of Early Rain Church in Chengdu, China, who was forced from the pulpit to the prison because of his beliefs. He is still imprisoned on trumped-up charges, believed to be in solitary confinement. Pastor Wang Yi has demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of injustice. He said: ‘If anyone attacks me, I will be as meek as a lamb. If anyone attacks the church, I will be as brave as a lion.’ He is doing his part in speaking out against injustice. We pray for the grace to play our own part by continuing to work towards his eventual freedom. Will you join us? Mrs Jatau, a Christian and civil servant in Nigeria, was accused of sharing a video that condemned the blasphemy-related murder of Christian student Deborah Emmanuel in 2022 in strong terms. As news of the accusations against Mrs Jatau spread, a mob gathered to kill her and attacked the local Christian community – injuring 13 people and burning homes and businesses. Mrs Jatau was subsequently charged and held in detention for 18 months. We give God thanks as Mrs Jatau’s case was dismissed on 10 December 2024! Having a skilled lawyer played a huge part in securing this outcome. Donations to CSW meant we could contribute towards her legal fees, raise her plight at the UN and respond to her husband’s plea for help in quashing unhelpful reports that could have undermined her case.
