Hi All,Think back over the last 20 years of your life. For many of us, there were joys and challenges. Moments with family and friends that we can still remember today. Hopefully, you had your freedom. For seven church leaders in Eritrea, that hasn’t been the case. They’ve spent more than two decades locked up because of their beliefs – without charge or trial, and denied access to lawyers. All seven have missed out on precious family moments, like birthdays, anniversaries and funerals. Reverend Naizge’s mother and Dr Gebrenegus’ father both died while their sons were in prison. Dr Gebrenegus also lost his wife to cancer, as did Reverend Gebregiorgis. This is unjust and inhumane – and it must change. Will you give £4 to support those who have been imprisoned or targeted for their beliefs? For over 20 years, we have stood alongside these church leaders – raising their cases at the United Nations, drawing public attention in the media, and holding protests outside the Eritrean embassy. We have successfully called for the renewal of a crucial role – the Special Rapporteur on Eritrea – to ensure that Eritrea’s human rights violations are monitored and reported. Because of supporters like you, that pressure continues. Your donation helps us continue the crucial work of advocating for those who are unjustly imprisoned or targeted – in Eritrea and around the world. |
