The 'cult of celebrity'.

If there is one thing I really detest about modern life, it is the ubiquitous desire, seen in so many truly sad people, to fawn around celebrities. They read all the details of their tedious lives. Such vicarious pleasures strike me as profoundly unhealthy and suggestive that the commandment 'not to covet' is not being broken but shattered.
Magazines dedicated to people just because they are famous leave me bemused.
