Apparently German Chancellor Angela Merkel has not only threatened the Greeks with an end to bailouts and being kicked out of the euro, but also with expulsion from the EU for at least ten years.
Now this may well make sense - from certain entrenched positions, at least.
But, may I just ask from whence cometh her authority? Is she 'the voice of the EU'?
Is she more important than the European Parliament and elected representatives?
Is this the biggest country in the EU flexing its muscles?
(Do remember - it was Merkel who hinted at military solutions!)
