Older People And The Internet.

As I listened to Radio Humberside interviewing Bridlingtonians recently, I was rather struck by the complaints of older folk who complain that they are penalised for not being online.
I would guess that these are pretty much the same curmudgeons who categorically refused to have anything to do with the Internet in their 50s and 60s - long after it had become clear that access to the Internet would become an essential part of modern life.
You can almost hear those 'taproom sages' with their "No way I'll ever have a bleep computer in my house.''
As a situation, it is not dissimilar to the advent of the telephone, cashcards, mobiles et al.
I am not totally devoid of sympathy for the few - but when a situation has been largely self-inflicted ....
