In a letter to the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad, nine prominent Dutch professors and academics argue that European citizens are irrevocably pushed towards a centralised European state without any possibility to influence fundamental decisions, and that for this reason they have started a citizens’ initiative to collect signature to push for a referendum on the Netherlands’ future in the European Union.
