' The European Arrest Warrant catches criminals; murderers and
paedophiles would escape justice without
it.'
We signed our first extradition treaty in 1174 and have treaties
with 92 countries across the world.
We’ve been working with Interpol since 1923. Before the EAW, people like Hussain Osman and Jeremy Forrest would
still have been extradited to the UK because we had extradition treaties with
Italy and France.
But our
government has a responsibility to protect our citizens from being deported
unless there’s real evidence of guilt.
With an extradition treaty, evidence must be produced before British
citizens are sent to rot in a foreign jail. Not with the EAW, I'm afraid!
