Nissan employ over 7,000 people in the North East and export over
80% of their goods. They couldn’t be
clearer: if we leave the EU we will lose
business.
Nissan only said that they would re-evaluate their business model,
as all companies would do when something changes. But when we didn’t join the euro, and they
re-evaluated their business model, they actually opened up a new plant! Nissan will want the UK to continue spending
the money that we are, on keeping Nissan happy.
They won’t want to lose the good deal they’ve
got.
Ford
closed a plant in the UK last year to go to Turkey. That happened with money given to Ford by the
European Investment Bank. We paid for it
in our taxes. They sell us 1.8 million
cars a year; the German car industry needs our business. They’re not going to start a tariff
war!
