Church of England to 'legalise' suicide in historic U-turn on funerals
Most clergy now regard suicide with far more sympathy than when 'self murder' was still a crime, and the move will be seen as reflecting a growing acceptance as more Britons end their lives. MOS.
Normally, any liberalisation in the Church of England should be treated with the very deepest of suspicion. Nonetheless, I do feel that the majority of suicides occur as a result of: mental illness, stress and extreme circumstances and very few should be seen as 'selfish actions'. Provided that each case is judged on merit, I cannot object to this.
