New Teachers Quitting In Droves.

More than 40% of new teachers leave profession within first 12 months: Excessive workload blamed as number who quit triples in six years

Nearly half of teachers are leaving the profession within the first year, according to the Association of Teachers and Lecturers. The union says the figure has tripled in six years.

Well, of course they are leaving! You have to use your entire personality every minute of every lesson to stay in control - and there is no guarantee you will succeed. You have children knowing that they can get away with obstructive behaviour; no real support from above; constant threats of legal action from objectionable parents; senior staff who are terrified of real decision-making; useless talkfests which pass as meetings; being told that you have a great job with oodles of holidays; interfering experts; workloads that can kill and on top of all that - OFSTED which struggles to recognise good teaching as they feel that all teachers should meet politically correct, box-ticking criteria! And if you happen to teach English - the marking will probably mean you have to work seven days a week.
