Perhaps you remember going to university. Perhaps you believe that university is still a place where debate is central, ideas are made and opinions formed. Sadly, this is no longer the case.

If you hold a minority view on just about any important social issue, speaking about it as a student can be very difficult, and as pro-life students in the University of Strathclyde Glasgow discovered, you can even be prevented from forming a group to debate and discuss controversial ideas.

Sign this petition in support of students’ right to the freedom of speech and against the censorship of controversial ideas at university.

Over the past few months a row has erupted in the University of Strathclyde Glasgow over whether or not a group of students is permitted to form a ‘pro-life’ society or club. The University of Strathclyde Students’ Association (USSA) currently will not affiliate any group which campaigns in favour of the human rights of the unborn.
This censorious streak in British universities must end. The debate is no longer about pro-life vs pro-choice.
