Cricket: For My American (And Aussie) Readers.

There are three types of pro-cricket in the international sphere today. The greatest of these is TEST cricket where a match is played over two innings per side to a maximum of five days. If there is no result at the end of the final day - a draw is declared. These can be very exciting as the side trailing in the game can endeavour to thwart the leading side and struggle to reach the end of the match undefeated.
In test cricket (and the county game played over 4 days only) whites are worn.
The biggest matches are played for 'The Ashes' between England and Australia. (Also known as 'The Enemy')

Shorter forms of cricket are completed in a single day. ODIs - or One Day Internationals, for example, are played to a conclusion over a maximum of 50 overs per side. (There are 6 balls per over - so in other words - a maximum of 300 balls bowled in each innings.)

T20 cricket is shorter still and can fit into a single afternoon or evening. Both shorter forms are also played at county level.
Coloured clothing is used in both shorter forms.

Naturally, Test cricket is slower but tends to be massively engaging in a way that the shorter forms can only match with a kind of crash, bang, wallop which annoys some of cricket's purists.

Moi? - I love 'em all but Test cricket is the highest developed art form known to Man.
