Leading the four match series by two matches to one, at Old Trafford, England have demonstrated great skill and, after just two days, look to have got this match in the bag. Resuming their first innings at a rather mediocre 260 for six at the start of Day Two - step forward Jonny Bairstow with a dazzling 99 to take England to 362 all out.
Considering the vagaries of the pitch and some intermittent spells of very special bowling from the weakened South African attack - this was a pretty good total.
Led by Jimmy Anderson, the England attack ripped through the bemused South African batsmen leaving them in tatters on 220 for 9 at stumps on Day Two.
Is there any way back for the visitors? - Not from what we have seen from them so far! They must be doing a desperate rain-dance in the hope that they might yet salvage a draw!
