Life will mean life for child killers under a Conservative government.
As part of the Tories crackdown on "soft justice", the new law will state that any adult who premeditates the murder of a child will be imprisoned for life without parole and will never be eligible for release.
Although murder already attracts a mandatory life sentence, the vast majority of convicted murderers do not spend their whole life in prison.
The Conservatives will revise a section of the Criminal Justice Act 2003 whereby they set a Whole Life Order as the starting point for all adults who murder children.
