Priti Patel has told police chiefs there will be "no excuses" if they fail to reduce crime and make streets safer after the Government’s pledge to fund 20,000 extra officers.
Speaking at the annual summit for the National Police Chiefs' Council and the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners in London, the Home Secretary said the investment in police numbers "must deliver the crime cuts that [the public] so desperately want".
