The mischievous and heavily leftist Peterloo film makes multiple claims for Jesus as a great social reformer.
(Also, I have personally heard a major leftist refer to Jesus as 'The first ever socialist.')
BALDERDASH!
Jesus did not attack: the principle of royalty; capitalism; wealth (other than to point out its inherent spiritual dangers).
He did not attack the Roman overlords of Israel nor work, as such, against the leaders of the Jews. He had no revolutionary tendencies. He spoke against poor rulers, bad employers, the selfish and corrupt judges and those priests who misrepresented the Word of God.
However, he espoused no cause advocating any violence.
He redefined the word 'revolutionary' by making it a spiritual question.
He was singularly apolitical.
