Should Christians Drink Alcohol?

Well, drinking is not compulsory but wine should generally form part of Holy Communion, after all - and certainly don't believe or trust anyone who tries to tell you that it was just 'unfermented grape juice!'

There are more admonitions against gluttony in the Bible than there are strictures against alcohol - and even where these exist - it is only to prevent abuse.

Why do you want to drink? - check your motives!
Are you strong enough to control your drinking to ensure that it will always be moderate?
Will you be influenced to drink more by the company you keep?
Would you ever drink to show off?
Does alcohol temporarily change your personality? - Then go teetotal.
If you ever once say the words "I need a drink." - That is the time to quit altogether.

"Alcohol can be a good friend but it is an appalling enemy," was what I used to say to the older kids I used teach in RS & Ethics.
