In addition to the three pro-life amendments that have been tabled to the Health and Care Bill, pro-abortion MP, Diana Johnson has tabled her own amendment to the Bill. Her amendment (NC50) seeks to amend the Offences Against the Person Act so that the current legal safeguards, which prevent a woman from performing her own abortion without the involvement of a registered abortion provider, would be removed through to 28 weeks’ gestation.
