OMICRON DEVOLVES! It’s been well known since this editor (John Mackay) studied three years of genetics at Queensland University – viruses which kill their victim quickly, kill themselves at the same rate as they can’t reproduce without the victim being alive. Viruses which spread slowly are in that category. The viruses which spread rapidly, rarely kill and so do way less damage. Omicron is a good example of a rapid spreader causing limited damage as part of the normal devolution that occurs to any virus. A good illustration of beneficial Natural Selection.
