Let me begin by making no bones whatsoever about my own hypocrisy. I fall far short of what I should be - but happily, I am a sinner saved by Grace.
I am entirely dependent on the love of Jesus and His blood shed for me.
The only weak excuse in my favour - is that I do try hard - mostly.
I am not saying that I am any sort of better Christian than others and I do not judge (by comparing others unfavourably to my own alleged goodness) but I will also attempt to embrace everything that God wants. I do try to look at the full package which God requires and I try very hard not to be selective - usually.
The problem is that all Christians cheat in their own individual ways.
As I see it, modern churches are riddled, perhaps as never before, with people who concentrate almost entirely on God's love.
We must not and cannot grasp the one portion of God which appeals to us. With that 'love' comes salvation BUT, so often, where is the repentance that must accompany it? No repentance, no salvation is not me being dogmatic but a hard fact.
Repentance means admitting all of our sins. How many people today will only admit to what they choose as being their wrongdoing seen through their liberal or modernist mindsets? (Didn't it used to be God who decided what is sinful and what is not?)
What of those who forget that God will judge - "I will avenge says the Lord' Romans 12: 19 - has that been forgotten? Has the liberal believer conveniently abolished hell - in which case, must we wonder what all the salvation stuff was about in the first place?
Today, when do we hear of God's retribution and His wrath? - They have been excised. (So as not to frighten the horses?)
Ours is a God of Justice - and may I say that social justice (Marxism by any other name) is simply not the issue. Justice means the meting out of just punishment by a righteous God. Receiving our due on the Day of Judgement.
God requires us to follow and obey His laws - I do not mean this in any sort of pharisaical way but out of love for Him and gratitude for the salvation granted to us. This is not optional, however.
Christians who simply do as they like failing to even attempt to : respect, honour, glorify, obey, trust, praise and worship Him or even believe what He tells us in His Holy Word - are they Christians at all?
Separating all of these matters away from His love for us is an act of dishonesty and, one I fear, with dreadful consequences.
