Put simply, the CC does not turn out: all that many truly quick bowlers; it very rarely produces a quality spinner and produces incredibly few batsmen in 'the Boycott mould'.

Having combined all of this with ever more limited over games - Test cricket is endangered and the changes for the 2022 season are simply insufficient as they move away from the 'conference-style' organisation.
