Awful Results From The Follies of So-Called Greens.

Painful Winter, Fewer Hurricanes,
and Mourning a Climate Hero
Winter is coming for New England…
and it will be painful

Residents in New England are feeling the pain of skyrocketing electric and natural gas bills.

Frank Lasee is a friend of the CO2 Coalition and just returned from a speaking engagement in New Hampshire where he met a local business owner. The owner’s electric bills had averaged $1,632 per month until a recent rate increase. His most recent bill was $4,839, which is three times the amount of the previous months.
The New England situation is self-inflicted by wrong-headed state and federal policies. The electricity grid for the area is the New England ISO, and electricity for the grid is primarily sourced from natural gas. Natural gas prices for the area are some of the highest in the nation; yet abundant, low-cost gas is located just to the south in the prolific reservoirs of Pennsylvania, West Virginia and eastern Ohio. Because the states of New York and New Jersey have banned any new pipeline construction, those reserves are stranded and unavailable to customers in the northeast.

Compounding that problem is that New England is not allowed to import inexpensive American liquified natural gas (LNG) because the Jones Act requires all carriers delivering products from one American port to another to be American flagged. There are no American flagged LNG carriers.

These problems can be solved easily, but it likely won’t happen until even more economic pain and blackouts are felt by the unfortunate citizens.
Evidence Shows Hurricanes Decreasing
Climate change enthusiasts are pushing a narrative that human-caused warming is causing hurricanes and has caused the hurricanes to increase in intensity faster. Here is the longest-term review of hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico that we have been able to find. Researchers at the National University of Mexico reviewed data going back to the year 1749 and found that “from 1749 to 2012 the linear trend in the number of hurricanes is decreasing.”
Skeptical Science Community Mourns Loss of
Climatology Professor

Two weeks ago, we began a series of short articles exposing the questionable scientific validity of former Penn State professor Michael Mann’s “hockey stick” and the numerous studies that claim to replicate his claim of unusual and unprecedented recent warming. One of Mann’s greatest nemesis was Dr. Timothy Ball, former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and a leading climate skeptic. Dr. Ball passed away September 24, 2022 at age 83, and the entire skeptical science community mourns his passing.

Dr. Ball gained notoriety after being sued by Mann in 2011 for stating that Mann “belongs in the state pen, not Penn State.” In 2019 the Supreme Court of British Columbia dismissed Mann’s defamation lawsuit and awarded full legal costs to Tim.

Anyone writing about Dr. Michael Mann needs to be keenly aware that the good doctor is quite litigious. Another ongoing defamation lawsuit involves the acerbic political commentator Mark Steyn’s description of the hockey stick as “fraudulent.” Bear in mind that the lawsuit was filed in 2012 and now, more than a decade later, is still crawling through the inefficient American legal system.

In our ongoing review of Mann and his disciples, we will stick to the science to expose the many scientific problems that corrupt many of the paleogeographic reconstructions claiming unprecedented warming.
