Isaiah 40:22 describes the earth as being round. The word used there can be translated ‘circle’ or ‘sphere’.
In the book of Job the earth is also described as ‘hanging upon nothing’, or words to that effect, which fittingly describes the way the earth floats in space held in position by the invisible force of gravity. (Job 26: 7)
