Dear Friend, Thank you so much for all your incredible support, especially for our Winter Fuel Campaign over the past months. I’m still thrilled that over 650,000 signed the petition to save the Winter Fuel Payment for struggling pensioners. However, the fight is far from over. That’s why last week, Age UK published a report on the cost of living to ensure greater representation for older people in the conversation. The report highlights that things have worsened in the last year and I’m especially worried because: 2.8 million pensioners report that their homes are colder than they would like most or all of the time, marking a 17% increase from the previous year. Groups, such as those with disabilities, low incomes, renters, women and people living alone, are disproportionately affected. Many on means-tested benefits also struggle, indicating that state support is insufficient. Additionally, one in three older people feel less financially secure in 2025 compared to 2024. 5.4 million are concerned about the impact of energy prices on their health, reflecting an 11% increase from last year. The report has generated great coverage including in the Daily Mirror, Daily Mail and Daily Express, helping the campaign to gain significant traction. I’m also still meeting with MPs to talk about how they can help their older constituents. With your support, we’re determined to continue fighting for change.
