Surely not a double standard?

Senator Joe McCarthy was pilloried and scorned in the USA by 'the usual suspects' for exposing communist sympathisers in American public life - particularly in the film industry.
For doing precisely the same thing where Nazi sympathisers were concerned, Cary Grant was praised and lauded.

I'm sorry but evil is evil whether Nazi or Marxist. Certainly, Communism has killed far more than fascism ever achieved.
