Transform Drug Policy Foundation has released
results from an Ipsos MORI poll showing that 53% of the British public are ready
to 'legalise or decriminalise' cannabis. Huffington Post.
Firstly - I think
that this is one of those polls with questions 'rigged' to
get a particular answer from a specific demographic. When these results are
repeated across a much wider range, only then shall I become
concerned.
Secondly - Abortion polls have
long been 'rigged' by lumping together 'abortion on demand' alongside 'abortion
post rape' and 'saving the life of the mother'. By using this egregious
technique, support for abortion is seen as being much higher than in fact is the
case.
Thirdly - If there is
any significant support for legalisation of cannabis out there - education is a
must. Schools must review their presentations of this most dangerous of
psychosis-inducing drugs.
Finally - Perhaps I am not as far
across towards to libertarian positions as I had previously
thought.
