The Culture Secretary, Maria Miller, who has rushed through the Royal Assent for the Same Sex Marriage Bill, claims this historic departure from centuries of tradition is merely “another step in the evolution of marriage”.

“Her idea of marriage evolving exposes Maria Miller’s failure to understand that marriage is not a man-made institution that politicians can tinker with. It is not an issue of rights or re-interpretation.

“Marriage has been divinely instituted by God and reiterated by Jesus himself who declared that a man should leave his father’s house and cleave to his wife as one flesh. The wife was only ever a woman,” emphasises Andrea Williams, CEO of Christian Concern.

Ms. Miller's comments were made in light of the news that the first same-sex weddings in England and Wales can take place from 29 March next year. Christian Concern.
