Self explanatory title. I abhor that nicey nicey, politically correct, pseudo-Christianity which almost always supports leftwing attitudes - which in most cases are profoundly anti-Gospel. Mark Twain.
He meant that the Church did not then represent Christ's teachings well, I suppose. The man had no faith - so I hope that he gave an honest appraisal. Today, however, I fear that this statement can be seen as very true!
