I see that a number of Christian groups have tried to work on an
end to nuclear weapons via the UN.
I am horrified that these tools of destruction should exist but I
cannot support the thesis of these believers because:
1) You cannot uninvent nuclear weapons - so they will not just go
away.
2) If the 'nice guys' disarm - there is nothing to say that the
'bad guys' will not hang onto theirs in order to blackmail the world into
submission.
3) The only time that these weapons have ever been used was by one
nation with the weapons against another without them.
4) During the 'cold war' - the threat of mutually assured
destruction was actually successful.
