The MP, Alan Johnson, has made allegedly positive
claims for remaining in the European Union. A simple analysis of what he stated
reveals that his assertions are, by and large, vague
generalisations.
As with other europhiles, he makes much of 'EU
triumphs' which, for the most part, are merely supposed successes which we could
have done rather better ourselves - and considerably more
cheaply.
It is time to look beyond the propaganda. We were
roundly suckered by the treacherous Heath in 1975 - we must not fall prey to the
same garbage a second time. The 'OUT' side
may use a few generalisations, naturally enough, but the majority of what
they are going to claim will be fact-based.
We need to look at hard data and not at the vague hype
and hyperbole so beloved by europhiles. Take, for example, the EU's plummeting
share of world trade.
It is also interesting to note how so much of the
media has calculatedly ignored the not insignificant EU contribution to the
disasters in Lanarkshire, Redcar and Scunthorpe.
