This morning Vote Leave published research
revealing just how flimsy the legal status of David Cameron’s 'renegotiation'
really is. The Government admits that the agreement would require Treaty change
in order to even be recognised as legally binding by the European Court of
Justice.
Now, in spite of the emphatic promises made by our leaders that Treaty change would be in place before the poll, it is clear that no irreversible agreement can be in place before the UK holds its referendum. Legal experts have said that that the renegotiation essentially has the status of 'an unsigned contract.'
Former Secretary of State for Wales, David Jones MP, writes in today’s CityAM
that the EU deal is not worth the paper it’s printed on. In the absence of
watertight commitments it’s clear that the only way to get the change we need
when it comes to the UK’s relationship with the EU is to Vote
Leave.
