Next UKIP Leader.

Steven Woolfe: Is unlikely to gain sufficient membership support.
Jonathan Arnott: Will not stand.
Douglas Carswell: Would alienate Farage supporters after their well documented falling out. Moreover, far too ex-Tory to be of use in the Labour heartlands.
Neil Hamilton: Too old and has been in one too many internal scraps with Nigel.
Patrick O' Flynn: an excellent political mind but his public persona is weak.
Suzanne Evans: Would struggle to succeed after being suspended - and as I understand it - the election will be over before that suspension ends. Another figure unsuitable for the Labour heartlands.
Diane James: An excellent MEP but perhaps lacks dynamism.
All of which means that Paul Nuttall, as bookmakers' favourite at 7 to 4, looks a rank certainty to me. True he is bald; true he has a scouse accent but he is 100% genuine and will attract a wide range of support across the party. He is not in the habit of making errors.
(Those odds look rather generous!) He is a figure who can unite the party.
I know Paul and make no secret of the fact that I admire him. UKIP has things to put right in order to perform even better in national elections - he is, by a country mile, the man to do that.
