The Kantar TNS poll of more than 1,000 Scots aged 16 and over showed 41 per cent of people favoured independence while 47 per cent would opt to remain in the Union.
After 12 per cent of undecideds were removed, the split came out as 53 to 47 per cent in favour of sticking with the UK.
This fresh snub comes just a week after a YouGov poll revealed 54 per cent of Scots would choose the Union over an independent Scotland.
The revelation follows a run of bad news for Scottish National Party leader Ms Sturgeon. Express.
You see - people, having once given a decision, do not like being browbeaten by self-serving politicos into changing their minds!
