Well, here we go again. The BBC is going to sell the
old lie that Timothy Evans, executed in 1950 for murdering his wife and child,
was innocent because John Christie, a serial killer, lived in the same tenement
block.
The abolitionist movement - Ludo Kennedy and Eddowes
as main movers - decided the opportunity was too good to miss and wantonly
presented disinformation in order to create 'a martyr' from the nasty little
lowlife, Evans, who had already tried previously to kill his
wife.
One small problem for those who believe fervently in
this 'miscarriage of justice' is that after his death, the whole scam was
revealed by Eddowes' son in his definitive volume called The Two Killers of
Rillington Place. All the rampant dishonesty is exposed and how it gained a
posthumous pardon for a genuine toerag.
So. Never let the truth get in the way of a good
story, eh? Richard Attenborough's film in the early 70s was thoroughly misleading in the portrayal of Evans as a victim and the BBC clearly likes the idea of rehashing the wicked myth once
again - or so it would appear.
