On June 23rd the British people had a vote that counted, and counted
equally towards the historic decision to Leave the EU. With every citizen truly
empowered to decide their nation’s future, over 33 million turned out in the
largest act of democracy in British history.
But our General Elections are not like this. In 2015 UKIP received 3.8
million votes - 12.8% of all those cast – but gained just one seat. This is the
establishment’s choice; the undemocratic First Past The Post voting system. It
is a system that has allowed Labour and the Conservatives to take turns ruling
the country, despite never having a majority of the voters behind
them.
We can change this - we can take back control and
make all votes matter; with Proportional Representation (PR). 80% of developed
countries already use PR, which means that seats in parliament match vote share
- this is vital to the future of our party.
There is a huge and growing movement to win real democracy in this country,
spearheaded by the Alliance to Make Votes Matter, (https://www.makevotesmatter.org.uk/the-pr-alliance/) of
which UKIP is a key member, alongside MPs from every other British party. A new,
official petition for PR has over 84,000 signatures and if we get it over
100,000 we can trigger a full debate in Parliament… but time is running
out!
Please support the petition for
Proportional Representation today and make sure every voter is
represented in Parliament. All you need to do is follow this

The ability for a political minority to rule the majority of people
is not the vision of a genuinely self-governing democracy we fought for – and
The Mother of Parliaments deserves better.
The referendum showed us what it means to truly empower people to take
control of their future. With Proportional Representation, we can keep MPs local
and have our Parliament reflect the whole nation. It’s time to make your vote
matter… every time.
