For the first time since the Spanish Flu in 1919, which left 50 million dead, we are facing a crisis on a monumental scale.
In the worst case scenarios, significantly more than 1% of those contracting the virus will die and literally any number up to 80% might yet be affected. Well, that is pandemics for you!
As our American cousins might say, "You do the Math." (Whatever that may mean.)
Quite possibly the best assessment made is:

This piece is quite long and difficult for those not of a statistical bent but it is certainly sobering and very carefully compiled.
The most positive aspect is just how rapid responses, from both people and governments, have an almost immediate effect on the spread of the virus.
I am a classic, potential victim. 70 next year and with a lifelong history of asthma and breathing difficulties - I really do need to keep out of the way of this pestilence.
I do not plan to quarantine entirely but am attempting to minimise all unnecessary human contacts until the position becomes clearer; I now carry disinfectant wipes wherever I go; hand-washing after touching bannister rails, door handles, toilet flush handles as well as baskets and supermarket trollies. (Do not forget those buttons you use when paying on card. Better to swipe, if you can.)
With Asda as our local 24 hour supermarket and me being an insomniac - shopping at 5am is no problem for me. 98% fewer shoppers in there at such hours must put the odds on my side - hopefully.
The one thing about us ageds is that most of us can derive great advantage from not having to go to work. Sadly, the more gregarious amongst us will have to curtail meeting together - they indeed will suffer more than most.
Those who do work, for the most part, have a far greater chance of escaping the more mortal effects of the disease because of the age profiles involved.
Mrs Blogger is going along with almost everything but still wants to carry on with her church activities until Sheffield is actually under siege. We share a difference of opinion on this but as family pressure, other than from me, is currently under way ... it is only a matter of time, I suspect.
Under semi-quarantine, the dangers are slashed: you can still shop and country walks are no problem at all - and greatly needed to stop people from festering away due to rampant inactivity in their own homes. Exercise is vital.
For me, daily walks are the norm in any case and I have a vibrating plate machine for those days when sticking the tip of your nose out through the door is inadvisable as a result of the inclemency of the weather.
More than anything else, we must 'put the blood of The Lamb around our doorposts.'
Pray, pray and pray again.
Self explanatory title. I abhor that nicey nicey, politically correct, pseudo-Christianity which almost always supports leftwing attitudes - which in most cases are profoundly anti-Gospel. This Blog supports persecuted Christians. This Blog exposes cults. This Blog opposes junk science. UPDATED DAILY. This is not a forum. This Blog supports truly Christian websites and aids their efforts. It is hardhitting and unashamedly evangelical so if it offends - please do not come to this site!
