Britain’s biggest homelesses charity has accused the hard left union boss Len McCluskey of putting vulnerable lives at risk by pressing ahead with a strike during the coronavirus pandemic.
In a letter to Mr McCluskey, Unite’s general secretary, the charity’s chief executive urged the union to at least postpone the strike “until warmer months and the full extent of the impact of coronavirus is known”.
Howard Sinclair, who has headed up St Mungo’s 2014, is trying to negotiate with unions while in self-isolation having developed Covid-19 symptoms of a cough and breathlessness. In his letter to Mr McCluskey, he pleaded with the union boss: “I hope you would agree that our vulnerable clients should come first - the right to life supersedes the right to strike.”... ST.
