Phil Spector and The BBC.

The BBC has apologised after describing music producer Phil Spector, who died in prison while serving a murder sentence, as "talented but flawed".

The corporation said the headline on the breaking news article "did not meet our editorial standards".

The BBC confirmed it had received complaints about the headline in the wake of the death of Spector, who was sentenced to a minimum 19 years in prison for murdering the actress Lana Clarkson. Aol.

Blogger: are we seriously being told that a murderer should not be described as 'flawed'? Are we utterly bonkers?

Is this the so-called lapse by the Beeb? - If that isn't it, what is? Sorry. I just don't get it! An apology?

I recall an interview given by Leonard Cohen on radio some 20+ years ago. He explained how he had felt in fear of his life after working with Spector. The man had pulled a gun on him and Lennie, for a time, was convinced that this non-flawed individual had seriously contemplated the idea of shooting him dead.
