Only 20% of the men on board survived, compared to 74.35% of the women.
This was not an unusual ratio. Men were expected to surrender their lives in a crisis to save women and children.
In these days of equality - can women reasonably retain the expectation that men should die in their stead?
I pose this as a question because I do not know the answer in a secular sense.
The Scriptures, however, are clear:
New International Version. Ephesians 5:25.
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."
