Misery guts awards.

When in sixth form, I had to study Thomas Hardy and DH Lawrence.
Last night I finished watching BBC 4's rendering of Lawrence's The Rainbow/ Women in Love. Oh how tedious it all was. How ill chosen were our 'A'Level literature texts. Lawrence was a self-obsessed, pretentious narcissist who presented his rambling introspection as serious writing. I have read most of his works and all are as annoying as each other.
As for Tommy Hardy - I know he had problems in his life (who doesn't?) - but how can he possibly be such a pessimistic nihilist?
I really must stop reading authors like these and watching their outpourings in TV dramas!

Bless Them.
