'Good grades from bad schools are better than the same results from high-performing schools, universities minister David Willetts said yesterday. He claimed that middle-class pupils from good schools who get straight As at A-level have not achieved ‘something exceptional’. Colleges will now be told to help working-class pupils who have failed to achieve top grades rather than middle-class students with the best results.' Oh for a return to the GRAMMAR SCHOOL which permitted 'social mobility' in a way never accomplished since its demise.
