According to recent reports, more than a third of women seeking an abortion in public institutions in Mexico City have a change of heart and select life for the unborn child rather than move forward with the alternatives offered by the Mexico City government.
Armando Ahued Ortega, Mexico City's secretary of health, revealed that during the five years that abortion has been legal in and subsidized by the city, it has processed 125,000 requests for abortion services. But the secretary of health stated that according to city records only 82,000 abortions have been completed. That leaves a total of 43,000 women who have changed their minds and opted to grant life to their unborn.
