Neo-Deism.

I recently presented the standard definition of deism as there being 'a distant god who created then abandoned this planet.'

In our society, deism works from a variant on this idea:

'God exists. God created. God is distant. God is an indulgent parent. God tolerates anything and everything we do. God forgives anything with no need for action on our part. God is eternally benevolent. God is vague and uncontactable. God punishes the wicked - which incidentally, never includes us!' - (Ever wondered where liberal christians are coming from?)

Just do not ever mention the word 'righteous' in front of them as they have no concept whatsoever of what that word actually means.
