Nigeria - Bad To Worse.

NIGERIA – More than 100 killed in Jos village raids.

Map of NigeriaViolent attacks on Christian villages in Plateau state – and then an assault on a mass funeral for the victims – have left more than 100 dead, including two politicians.
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has promised tough action after gunmen raided nine Christian villages in Barkin Ladi near Jos on Saturday in an assault that lasted almost two hours. The following day, they attacked a mass funeral for the dead, killing more than 20.
Among those killed at the funeral were two Christian politicians – Gyang Dantong, a senator with the ruling party, and state assembly leader Gyang Fulani.
Local media said that those killed in the villages included women, children and elderly people who had sought safety in the home of the local pastor. The house was surrounded and set alight, so those inside were burned alive. Stefanos Foundation says it was receiving distress calls from villagers until 'things got out of hand'. Police and soldiers who fought with the gunmen were among the casualties. (Release Int.)
