Over-Protective Parents.

I suppose that parents defending their children, whether they are right or wrong, dates back to time immemorial but as a child, I must admit that such attitudes were a fraction of what they are today.
Here are a few examples:
1) Well s/he said ... and I believe him/her! (In spite of all  evidence to the contrary.)
2) "My child never lies". This from the same parent who makes excuses for homeworks not done, lateness, appearance inter al.
3) "My child never lies". This when talking about some devious so-and-so who is somewhat unfamiliar with the meaning of the word 'truth'.
4) "My child would never ...."
5) "The teacher is wrong." (In spite of all evidence to the contrary.)
6) "That teacher has it in for my little Wally."
7) "It was the other kid's fault."

And so it goes on. To me this kind of unthinking support is actually a moral issue.
To cap it all - what really knocks my duck off is when one or all of the above comes from those very same parents who are demanding 'more discipline' - which clearly does not apply to their own children!
