Campaigner and victim of ‘locked-in’ syndrome Tony Nicklinson died at home yesterday only a week after losing a High Court battle to allow doctors to end his life without fear of prosecution.
The 58-year-old, who was left ‘heartbroken’ by the decision, died as a result of pneumonia compounded by the fact that he had refused to eat for several days. (Mail)
I ask this question:
You are a soldier. Your friend and colleague has been seriously wounded in battle and your platoon are pulling out at great speed and there is no possibility he can be taken with you without many other lives being endangered.
He is in great pain, probably dying, faces inevitable capture, degradation torture and death by an evil enemy
When he begs you to shoot him before you leave - what do you do?
"Sorry, mate. That would be immoral. Gotta leave you. If it were down to me ... You know. Anyway - all the best - we're off now. Good luck! Bye!"
What is the difference?
