I am heartily sick of seeing persistent burglars receive derisory sentences - often of less than two and a half years.
As we do not have enough prisons this means that they will possibly serve less than a year as things currently are.
How is the public afforded protection? Where is the deterrent element? Why has such a serious crime been so trivialised?
These people must understand that they will face an absolute minimum of five years behind bars - irrespective of what 'sentence' is originally imposed.
