North-East Region.

As a Ukip member, I received ballot papers for the UKIP would-be MEP candidates this morning. The EU Elections arrive next May.
There are 60 names, each with their 500 word statements and details in a handsome brochure.
Members have ten choices with their Number One gaining ten votes, this reducing to earning just a single vote for their tenth choice.
Each candidate is down for a named region BUT all votes are national. It is a very well thought out system.
My Number One was, pretty obviously, the brilliant, 32 year old Jonathan Arnott who is currently the party's General Secretary.
All being well - the Number One named candidate in each region will be elected but many lower down the lists in regions with a large number of available seats will also have a very good chance of going to Brussels to be the only MEPs actually representing our nation's best interests.
